The Whole Enchilada August 2009 Week 3 Burrito Deluxe is a distant spin-off from the excellent Flying Burrito Brothers. Pedal steel guitar guy “Sneaky” Pete Kleinow (RIP Pete) was a Burrito original alongside Chris Hillman (former Byrd), Gram Parsons, and Chris Ethridge. (For a taste of the original Flying Burrito, try The Gilded Palace of Sin.) Hammond organ player Garth Hudson was the musical linchpin of The Band. And lead singer Carlton Moody is no household name-but he should be. The guy is dynamite! The album has a great rendition of The Box Tops’ “The Letter” and a powerful closer in “Rex Bob Lowenstein.”
