The Blessing turned out to be David’s last recorded outing. This session was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio in December 2008. Fathead passed away in January. This is a most mellow CD and features, Steve Nelson on vibes & Peter Bernstein on guitar. Included are nice readings of Someone to Watch Over Me, As Time Goes By, & Chelsea Bridge. Mr. Newman was an integral part of the great Ray Charles Newport Jazz Festival Band.
