Documents Show Kagan is Far-Left – Connie Hair, Human Events
A new trove of documents has been released from Elena Kagan’s time in the Clinton White House. The papers show how Kagan attempted to circumvent the NRA to enact unconstitutional gun control legislation using parliamentary techniques to disenfranchise the American people and to push the Radical Progressive Movement’s goal of disarming the population. Her disregard for the constitution is alone enough to recommend the denial of her appointment to the Supreme Court. – Dick Young
Tax Hikes and the 2011 Economic Collapse – Arthur Laffer, The Wall Street Journal
Punitive taxes on the rich aren’t going to increase government revenue all that much. Look for a VAT tax to start coming up in political conversation a lot more often after the November elections, especially if Democrats keep control of Congress. A VAT will slam middle class consumers with a hidden tax, adding lots of revenue to the government balance sheet. That’s great for bureaucrats who want better pension plans but not so good for America’s producers. – Dick Young
Employers on Strike – Review & Outlook, The Wall Street Journal
411,000 of the 431,000 jobs created by the economy in May were for temporary census workers. So much for the recovery promised by this administration a year ago. More government workers seems to be good news to White House chief economist Christina Romer and President Obama as they continue to jam their Keynesian madness down taxpayers’ throats. Up next, tax incentives for clean energy, extension of unemployment insurance and other income support programs. Check back tomorrow to see the waste your tax dollars are supporting. You won’t believe it. – E.J. Smith
Keep Out Kagan Day Tomorrow – Benjamin Smithwick, Human Events
June 8th is Keep Out Kagan Day, where conservative Americans will be contacting their senators and asking them to vote against Kagan’s confirmation. – Dick Young
California’s Pension Protection Bill – Review & Outlook, The Wall Street Journal
By refusing to accept wage, pension and benefit modifications like those being doled out in the private sector, public employee unions are tying the hands of municipalities and states, and driving them toward bankruptcy. A refusal to give makes bankruptcy the only option for cities and towns that are starving for funds today. – Dick Young
Something Rotten in the State? – Patrick Buchanan, ChroniclesMagazine.org
Pat Buchanan asks the right question, “When does a political deal become a bribe?” According the Obama administration, Americans are supposed to take the word of White House counsel that no laws were broken when the White House offered Congressman Joe Sestak a job to drop out of the Pennsylvania Senate race. Mr. Buchanan reminds readers that the Nixon White House counsel also told Americans that nothing illegal was going on at Watergate. This matter deserves a special investigation today. – Dick Young
Holder’s Misguided Oil Spill Probe – Audrey Hudson, Human Events
Eric Holder’s pending criminal investigation of the gulf oil spill will douse any goodwill that currently exists between BP and the Obama administration, and make the cleanup of the spill that much more difficult. – Dick Young
