In the Washington Examiner, Bethany Blankley reports that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill prohibiting the use of Covid-19 vaccine mandates by employers in the state. She writes:
Texas employers will no longer be allowed to mandate COVID-19 shots as a condition of employment, thanks to a new law passed by the Texas legislature and signed by the governor.
Gov. Greg Abbott signed the bill November 10, 2023. The law also imposes a $50,000 fine, per violation, against employers who don’t abide by it. In such cases, the Texas attorney general may also file his own charges against violators.
The Texas Supreme Court has already ruled that school districts cannot impose vaccine mandates on their employees. Plus, a different law banning local governments from implementing COVID-related shots, masks and shutdowns took effect July 1, 2023.
