6:30 wake up commentary:
Fury! Just four misguided Americans have potentially altered the country you grew up in forever. The House has voted by the narrowest 219-212 margin to begin the enormous task of health care alteration. First of all, most of this toxic health care legislation will not kick off for years. Second, there will be a Supreme Court challenge. Third, dozens of state attorneys general will likely sue. And fourth the environment in the United States of America will, as of today return to the era of Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty. Yes, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi bullwhipped a handful of hapless, and soon to be dispatched, congressmen to vote for a Federal health care takeover. Alexander Hamilton and Franklin D. Roosevelt would have been proud. Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere would have been a lot less proud. Americans, by a huge margin, do not want the health care bill passed and neither do a big percentage of practicing physicians. But in the end, Obamacare is a lot less about improving healthcare than it is about Federal overreach and grand socialism. This morning National Review led off with “Congress has narrowly passed a bill that simultaneously undermines life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but the fight is not over.” And this is true. The fight is just beginning. Ron Paul, in National Review, writes of “Unconstitutional Outrage.” Mark Steyn, also in National Review writes of Happy Dependence Day. As things now stand, the Democrats health care takeover will involve a massive IRS build up of 16,500 brand new IRS agents. The heavy hand of the IRS will now, in theory, come down on every one of America’s small business owners. These risk-taking Americans are the back bone of the U.S. economy and provide the majority of the new jobs for all Americans. Connie Hair writes in Human Events that “With House Democrats’ arms in slings and careers in tatters, the House voted to pass Obamacare last night by a vote of 219-212. The only bipartisanship involved was the vote against the bill, with 34 Democrats siding with Republicans.” In my state of Florida, Attorney General Bill McCollum will immediately file suit, as soon as the bill is signed into law. Dick Armey of FreedomWorks has written on the Peoples Surge, but Congress has not gotten the message. Armey, former majority leader, was recently a guest on the Charlie Rose show. Click on Armey’s Army for our review and a link to the transcript. Mr. Armey is adamantly against big government and federal overreach, and tells Americans that “you can compromise on details, you can compromise on strategies, but you must never compromise on principles.” Americans know this, and their voice will be heard. The battle is indeed just beginning.

How many Iraqis, or for that matter Afghans, participated in 9/11? The answer is zero. 9/11 was primarily a Saudi event. We should not have gone into Iraq. And we should not be in Afghanistan today. Forget what you read in the media about how things are going in Afghanistan today. Instead, read up on the history of this ancient land and learn why keeping American ground troops in Afghanistan (ex-special forces) is such a huge mistake. – Dick Young
