To Save America – Peter Ferrara, The American Spectator
In Newt Gingrich’s new book he hits the nail on the head when he writes “any fair assessment of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi economic policies shows they are indisputably socialist.” There is no doubt that with Barack Obama in the White House, Americans are represented by the most radically destructive administration of my lifetime. – Dick Young
Coburn Calls Kagan ‘Ignorant’ on Commerce Clause, Says Filibuster Possible – Daniel Foster, National Review
A filibuster should be a foregone conclusion for Kagan. She is one of the most far-left liberals ever to be nominated for an appointment to the court. The president should withdraw her nomination or resign himself. The president took an oath on the Bible to defend the constitution. No one alive who has examined Kagan’s background, or listened to her vapid testimony can possibly believe she has any intention whatsoever of defending the principles of the constitution. She is, without question, anti-second amendment, which in itself is enough to disqualify her from the bench. Conservative Americans and TEA Party patriots should be bombarding their senators with e-mails telling them to vote against a confirmation for Kagan. – Dick Young
Confirmed: Hearings Aren’t Pleasing Anybody – Naftali Bendavid and Jess Bravin, The Wall Street Journal
It was Elena Kagan who wrote that confirmation hearings have become “vapid” and could benefit from more discussions of the nominee’s views. Since her hearings began she’s been nothing but “vapid”. And is nothing more than one of Obama’s progressives much like Sonia Sotomayor. In fact it was Sotomayor who said in her hearings she would respect the Second Amendment, yet voted against such rights last week when it mattered most. – E.J. Smith
Kagan Downplays Declaration of Independence – Matthew Faraci, Human Events
I’m concerned when any American has no opinion regarding the Declaration of Independence. I’m more concerned when that American is being vetted for an appointment to the Supreme Court. The declaration may not be the “law of the land” like the constitution, but when a potential justice feels she must disavow any opinion of America’s founding document, I have to suspect she is in well over her head. – Timothy Jones
Kagan’s Commerce Show-and-Tell – Review & Outlook, The Wall Street Journal
In her testimony before the Judiciary committee, Elena Kagan left open the possibility that Congress could pass a law forcing Americans to eat fruits and vegetables every day, and that she, as a Supreme Court justice, would uphold that law as constitutional. The inherent metaphor here is the recent mandate in Obamacare that people purchase health care insurance. Kagan’s answer to the fruit and vegetable question, as silly as the question may be, gives insight into her probable take on this central tenet in Obamacare that will surely come under constitutional scrutiny. This is more evidence that Kagan is being nominated simply to safeguard Barack Obama’s legacy and the distorted interpretation of the constitution created by the left.. – Dick Young
FEC Attempts to Shut Down Campaign for Liberty – Ron Paul, PrisonPlanet.com
A pair of lawsuits has been filed against Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty. I’m a member of the Campaign for Liberty and have seen nothing devious come from their offices. The details are vague as to what the lawsuits allege, but if grassroots campaigning is now illegal, we’re all doomed. More likely, the Campaign for Liberty, which is nearing 500,000 members, is starting to come under the scrutiny of the Left. The organizational power of that many angry libertarians is unnerving to big government proponents to be sure. Show your support for small government by joining the Campaign for Liberty today. – Timothy Jones
