Debbie and I are strong supporters of Michigan Rep. Justin Amaish. As our friend Cato Institute’s David Boaz points out, Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) is the most pro-free-enterprise and most libertarian member of Congress.
The shocker for most Americans, as David Boaz explains, is the opposition to Justin Amash by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. What’s up with the Chamber?
Well, you shouldn’t be shocked. The Chamber is a notorious front-runner and flag waver for big business (you know, the guys who do not supply most of America’s new jobs). In 2008 the U.S. Chamber of Commerce supported TARP as well as the $800 billion Wall Street bailout. Further, the Chamber vigorously supports the Export-Import Bank. Rep. Justin Amash opposes the Ex-Im Bank.
Freedomworks, Club for Growth and the National Taxpayers Union are all behind Justin Amash.
David Boaz concludes “It looks like it may be tough to support free markets, oppose bailouts and corporate welfare, and receive the support of the nation’s largest business organization.
