The NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll shows that (a) 61% of Americans disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing on foreign policy, and (b) 65% of Americans believe that the country is on the wrong track! I just looked at the Real Clear Politics average job approval ratings for Obama in 15 key states. The approve/disapprove poll spread is negative in every single state, including nine of the ten Senate battleground states listed. The negative differential, by example, is between 20% and 30% in Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisiana. All would appear entirely out of reach for Democrats this November.
In such a case, the Republican Senate count hits 49 seats with only two more of the 10 battleground states necessary to put the GOP back in control of the Senate. In Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, New Hampshire, and North Carolina, Obama’s approve/disapprove differential is in double digits. It would appear likely that the GOP can turn such horrible Obama approval differentials into Senate victories in each of these five battleground states as well, putting the GOP over the top with room to spare.
