McConnell Leaves Kagan Filibuster on Table – Carol E. Lee, Politico
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said this weekend on Fox News Sunday that “has basically argued before the Supreme Court that the government could ban pamphlets. I find that very troubling.” Troubling indeed. The whole Elena Kagan nomination process ought to be trashed before the hearings get started. Her antagonism toward the rights protected by the Constitution’s amendments is terrifying to freedom loving Americans. In the same interview McConnell left the door open to a filibuster of the radical progressive, Kagan, though he didn’t sound committed one bit. If the GOP leadership wants to rally conservatives to their cause they need to stop acting like it’s 2004 and start acting like it’s 2010. The Tea Party has come and demands conservatives to be conservative and to fight for conservative values with every tool at their disposal. Elena Kagan is a radical progressive and should absolutely be filibustered by every conservative in the Senate. – Dick Young
Stunning Revelation from Sen. John Kyl
This stunning speech by Sen. John Kyl unveils that the Democratic administration is holding border security hostage to immigration reform. The President and his cabinet will not protect the border unless they are given political-payola in the form of immigration amnesty. – Dick Young
Colleagues Cool to John Kerry on Energy – Darren Sumuelsohn and Manu Raju, Politico
John Kerry is showing as nearly much zeal to cap carbon emissions as Al Gore. It must be a failed-Democratic-presidential-nominee thing. Kerry is obnoxious about carbon emissions that even his own party members want nothing to do with him. The reason is that the kind of cap and trade legislation favored by John Kerry and his boss Barack Obama would be absolutely terrible for the American economy and for taxpayers. The legislation would be a double whammy that would not only wipe out business opportunity but also tax Americans to death through higher energy costs passed on to them by their energy companies and gas stations. – Timothy Jones
ObamaCare and the Independent Vote – David Brady, Daniel Kessler And Douglas Rivers, The Wall Street Journal
Independent voters are still incensed about how the Obama administration jammed healthcare reform down the throats of Americans who came out in droves against the bill. The bill was a major loss of faith between independents and an administration they thought they had reason to believe in. Filled with backroom deals like the Louisiana Purchase and the Cornhusker Kickback given to Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Ben Nelson (D-NE), the bill has served only to enrage independents. Any senator or congressman that voted for Obamacare should be wary of his electoral chances if there is a large block of independent voters in his district. – Dick Young
Keeping Up With The Jones Act – Deroy Murdock, Human Events
Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel offer up another sacrifice to the unions that put them in the White House. The Jones Act forces cleanup efforts in the Gulf to be performed by union workers from America, and doesn’t allow foreign specialists into the area to help out. So when disaster strikes anywhere in the world, Americans are generally in the first wave of responders, but when disaster strikes here and America’s friend wish to repay the favor, remember that it’s the unions that are stopping them from doing so. These are the same unions trying to force the Employee Free Choice Act (a.k.a. card check) through Congress so the private sector can once again be pinned to the ground by growing unionization. – Dick Young
