Democrat Disconnect: Trump-Proof California
The Democrat-run California legislature is involved in a “special session” to focus on “special issues.” Well, those special issues were soon extinguished by news coming out of LA. In a move that Politico tells readers is “the first of its kind in the nation,” California legislature under Governor Newsome is looking to Trump-proof the state.
The legislature has reached a $50 million agreement to shore up local and state defenses against the incoming Trump administration. Half the money would go to fending off any mass deportation plan from the new administration.
Stars Not Aligned?
In what can be considered very bad timing, the highly partisan issue comes while California leaders are being criticized for incompetence/negligence as southern California suffers from historically devastating fires.
As the Republican state assembly leader notes, California should be laser-focused on responding to the devastating wildfires in LA. Instead, the priority of Democrat lawmakers was to create a $50 million slush fund to hire government lawyers for hypothetical fights against the federal government and to defend criminal illegal immigrants from being returned to their homes. 50 million agreement to shore up state and local legal defenses against the incoming Trump.
