Happy Valentine’s Day from us, hope you made it a good week. Your Survival Guy and Gal did. We had dinner last night with good friends at one of our favorite restaurants in Newport, Stoneacre Brasserie. It was an especially cozy night as the last of the storm blew out.
If you want to get away for a long weekend in February, Newport is a great option without the summer crowds. If you need some more recommendations, we also like Clarke Cooke House and Thames Street Kitchen (TSK), among the plenty of other options for you to choose from.
The beaches are closed. This is great news for our puppy, Stanton. Off-season, they’re open to dogs. Take your pick between First or Second Beach. Like skiing, being cold is simply not dressing for the weather. If the north wind is blowing, grab some shelter along the Cliff Walk and check out the views from above.
And if walking isn’t in the cards, grab a cup of joe or hot chocolate from Empire Coffee on the corner of Bellevue and William and cruise along Ocean Drive. You can admire how the other half lived and consider how, back then, even they couldn’t take videos with their phone. Cheers.
Action Line: Hope to see you. ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com.
