In a post on X.com, President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele announced that more MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gang members had been deported from the United States and put into prisons in El Salvador.
Last night, in a joint military operation with our allies from the United States, we transferred 17 extremely dangerous criminals linked to Tren de Aragua and MS-13.
All individuals are confirmed murderers and high-profile offenders, including six child rapists.

A relationship between the United States and El Salvador was sparked during a call between President Trump and President Bukele that took place on January 23. The White House readout of the call stated:
Today, President Donald J. Trump held a call with President Nayib Bukele of the Republic of El Salvador. The two leaders discussed working together to stop illegal immigration and crack down on transnational gangs like Tren de Aragua. President Trump also praised President Bukele’s leadership in the region and the example he sets for other nations in the Western Hemisphere.
