Don’t Get Lost in the Clouds
There’s a new sheriff in town, that is a new President—competent, effective, triumphant. Arriving in LA, Donald Trump’s tie was off, shirt open low. Perhaps matching macho for macho with Governor Gavin Newsome, reports Matthew Hennessey in the WSJ.
Success breeds confidence, and vice versa. How long will it last? The danger of riding high is that the air gets thin. You get lost in the clouds. You lose sight of the ground. Pride goeth before the fall. That day will surely come.
Listen to Democrats talk, and you’ll quickly pick up on how distracted and disoriented they are: dazed, moaning, and babbling.
Someone should escort them to the locker room. They need the concussion protocol.
NYT: Fear, Fury, Confusion
For decades, the American left banked on a certain power to bend political reality. With the media’s help, they had a free hand to introduce topics for discussion—and a freer hand to rule topics out. Whether it was guns, healthcare, same-sex marriage, race relations or transgenderism, the left policed the boundaries of acceptable discourse. Their priorities, amplified through the mainstream outlets, became the nation’s crucial issues.
Struck dumb, impotent, and cowering, they now behave with the frantic confusion of the great and powerful Oz after Toto pulls back the curtain.
They are smacking at the buttons on the console and trying desperately to remember their lines. Trump deleted Medicaid! Trump insulted Colombia! Pathetic.
Finding Another Parable
One should never gloat at the paralysis of others. It’s just not kind, Mr. Hennessey reminds readers:
But Republicans—even those who aren’t all in for Mr. Trump—can be forgiven a moment’s delight. Still, remember how it ended for Nixon, Napoleon and de Gaulle. Nobody rides high forever.
