Could early elections be a foreshadowing of a massive red wave this November?
In special and local elections across the country, there seems to be a trend toward conservative winners that was “largely unexpected by many pollsters and the Democratic Party,” reports today’s BRIGHT editor.
California’s 25th district special election last week saw a blue seat turn red in that state for the first time in more than 20 years, and the resounding victory by Republican Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin’s 7th District was also stunning to Democratic operatives who thought they could flip the seat blue.”
But no election has seen more of a drastic change that a City Council clobbering by the GOP in the Virginia city of Staunton. This week, Republicans reclaimed three of four seats in a town that had become deep blue over the last two decades. More importantly, the district saw a voter turnout three times higher than the previous election cycle. Seems that citizens are suddenly very concerned with local politics, which could be very bad news for Democrats in November. More on the stunning flip from The Daily Caller:
Local outlet Augusta Free Press reporter Chris Graham called the results ‘stunning almost beyond words.’
Graham cited gun control legislation in the state as well as COVID-19 lockdowns as key turnout drivers for Republicans in the city.”
